Released on the occasion of Printed Matter, Inc's 2016 New York Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1, WOMEN AREN'T FUNNY, Vols 1 & 2 are long-form visual joke collections by Brooklyn-based artist Sara Greenberger Rafferty. Conceived as a pair of comic objects, each book delivers a relentless repetition of appropriated imagery to the point of banal absurdity. Vol 1 features dozens of anthropomorphized women's closet organizers filled with various stereotypical gendered objects. In Vol 2, Rafferty compiles images of models, actors, and members of the public sporting the infamous "NO MA'AM" (National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood) shirt originally conceived by the fictional character Al Bundy on the sitcom Married With Children.
Designed and edited by Claire Mirocha.
