MODEL TURNED COMEDIAN
SMP No. 16, 2012 | 71 pages, perfect-bound in collaboration with Publication Studio
Model Turned Comedian is a novella by artist Heather Guertin that introduces a young woman working as a "shopping model" in Los Angeles. Over a period of several years, she transitions to a career in stand-up comedy, achieving a considerable amount of success while alienating many of those around her. This publication was originally produced in a limited run of 50 zines for the 2012 New York Art Book Fair, then was re-issued as a perfect-bound book in collaboration with Publication Studio in Portland, OR. The second edition was released at the 2013 Los Angeles Art Book Fair.
Heather Guertin lives and works in New York. This is her first project with Social Malpractice Publishing.
