Dinner for Women
Project by MK Guth
SMP No. 16, 2012 | 30 pages, staple-bound with archival tape | Original edition of 150, numbered and signed
Dinner for Women by MK Guth was developed as a takeaway object from her 2012 solo exhibition “When Nothing Else Exists, Smell and Taste Remain” at the Marylhurst University Art Gym in Portland, OR. On the occasion of the exhibition, copies were placed within the gallery space communicating to viewers that the books were free for women only. Inside of the book itself is an explanation of Guth's project, itself a nod to work by Suzanne Lacy. The book has an archive section where women who choose to take it from the gallery may document their own dinners staged to honor a woman of import in their own community.
MK Guth lives and works in Portland, OR. This is her first project with Social Malpractice Publishing.
